I wasn’t sure if a song like this would be a good fit for a children’s record. When the subject matter through the entire CD started to broaden, I was glad to include it. What I do is now called “family music.” And though this isn’t really a kid song, I hope kids will like it as much as I do.
You can climb to the tip of the mountaintop
Or sail the seven seas
You can fly like a bird around the world
But you’ll never find a friend like me
You can ask the Dalai Lama
Or the ghost of Gandhi
If you ask the Pope and he’ll say “nope”
You’ll never find a friend like me
A friend like me, a friend like me
You’ll never find another friend like me
You can look in the trunk of Grandpa’s car
Or look in the trunk of a tree
You can look in the trunk of an elephant
But you’ll never find a friend like me
So, go ahead, search the Internet
And search through history
Search high and low, soon you’ll know
You’ll never find a friend like me
A friend like me, a friend like me
You’ll never find another friend like me
Yes, I’ve got cash in the bank
Food in the fridge
Gas in the tank
Call me if there’s anything that you need
You’ll never find another friend like me
When you’re running willy-nilly
Busy as a bee
Give me a shout, I’ll help you out
You’ll never find a friend like me
When the tears start flowing
And you want some sympathy
Don’t despair, I’ll be there
You’ll never find a friend like me
A friend like me, a friend like me
You’ll never find another friend like me
