The Gingerbread Man

– Here is my version of the classic story, “The Gingerbread Man.” It might be a little different than how you remember it, but the ending’s the same. Poor Gingy.

A little boy craved something sweet
He asked his mom for a cookie to eat
She baked a batch and afterward
The oven door opened, here’s what they heard

I’m the Gingerbread Man
You can’t catch me
I’m alive, wild, and free
So, run, run, run
As fast as you can
You can’t catch me
I’m the Gingerbread Man

An old milk cow by the railroad track
Was feeling hungry and wanted a snack
The cookie ran by, full speed ahead
Laughing out loud, here’s what he said

A portly pig laughed with delight
Licking his lips, he wanted a bite
The Gingerbread Man passed on his way
Over his shoulder, you could hear him say

It started to rain, the cookie cried
He needed someplace safe to hide
A crocodile opened his mouth
Said, “It’s dry in here, I can help you out”

The Gingerbread Man was getting wet
He’d make a choice he’d soon regret
With one big gulp, our story ends
But we can sing his song again
