Little Brown Seeds

– this song came from a poem called “Little Brown Seeds.” The Kindergartners at Leonardo di Vinci recited it for the moms on Mother’s Day last year. I added some words and came up with a melody. Thanks to John O’Kennedy for playing the sweet dobro licks.

Little brown seeds, so small and round
Are sleeping silently underground
Waiting through winter until the spring
When they wake up to find
What the new year will bring

Down come the raindrops
Sprinkle, sprinkle, sprinkle
Out comes the rainbow
Twinkle, twinkle, twinkle

Little brown seeds way down below
As through the earth they grow, grow, grow
Little green leaves come one by one
They hold up their heads
And look at the sun

Little brown seeds are fully grown
As veggies or fruit with seeds of their own
Fresh from the garden, you can’t go wrong
So eat up and keep
Yourself healthy and strong
