This song was written using a page about plants from the back of a 1st grade science text book. I had to switch lines around and add a few extra lines to make it rhyme. But I wanted to keep as much of the vocabulary as I could. It’s a good one to sing at school.
Roses are red, violets are blue
Fruit and veggies are good for you
So let’s all plant more of these
And trees
Plants have roots and some grow fruits
Or a pretty flower
Vegetables are wonderful
And love a summer shower
Grass is green and I have seen
Trees grow tall and taller
Roots go down into the ground
To store up food and water
Stems thick or thin drink water in
To make flowers greener
Little seeds grow into trees
That make our air much cleaner
You can see plants have leaves
That make food out of sunshine
Big or small, we love them all
Especially in springtime
