Another BIG Update
It’s been a while since my last post. Quite a while, in fact. So, I’d like to take this opportunity to catch everyone up as to what’s been going on with me. It’s been a mixed bag, for sure. Some good, some not so much. Some unexpected, some inevitable. Here’s the skinny…
If you’ve been coming to the libraries for music, you know I’m having issues with my eyes. I will include links from my doctor’s website, if you’d like to know more. Some of you might be interested in the science and technology. In a nutshell, I have a hereditary disease called Fuch’s Cornea Dystrophy. I also have cataracts in both eyes. I’ve already had the cataract surgery in my right eye and plan to have the DSEK procedure during spring break (April 16). Then I’ll proceed with the same two operations on my left eye during the summer. By the beginning of school next September, I’ll be good to go, needing glasses to read but not to drive. Wow, won’t that be great? I can hardly wait… But, wait. That’s not all. Also, in the health department, my wife had hip replacement surgery last week (oy). She’s now at home and doing great. The best part of all of this is the fact that our quality of life will increase after all the healing has been completed. It will take time, but we both hope for the best. Thank you all for your well wishes and positive thoughts.
On a musical note, all four of my CDs are now included on Pandora, the Internet radio station. It’s a fun way to listen to music of all kinds and I’m surprised every time I have a few minutes to listen. Try it out and create a Mister Cooper station by clicking here. I’ll give you an orange thumbs up if you give me one when a Mister Cooper song pops up. Deal? Deal.
There’s good news regarding Belle Cooledge Library. My residency has been extended to the first week of June. I am very grateful to the fine Friends of the Library there for their generous support of my music program. Remember, if you haven’t been there for a while, that we now meet on Wednesdays at 4:00 pm for singing and dancing fun. The new day has been working out great. Join us, won’t you?
Unfortunately, music time at the Colonial Heights Library seems to be coming to an end. For the past year, I’ve been there each week and enjoyed every minute of it. But, starting in March, my visits will be cut back to once a month. As of this writing, I’ll be there Thursday, March 20, at 9:45 am. After that, the answer is blowing in the wind. Please stay tuned and I will do my best to keep you updated. Thanks to Laura Rios and the Friends of the Library at Colonial Heights for the opportunity to bring my music to their library.
Music at the schools is completely cray cray and something for another post. Spring and summer concerts will be announced soon. This is a really busy time for me with all the plates I’m spinning. But, I do want to end with another BIG THANK YOU for coming to a library show with the kids and singing along. It means the world to me.
